There are walkways and ramps that make the site accessible to everyone, including the Cathedral Cave tour that runs every hour. You can explore these caves in a limestone ridge, and if you’re lucky, you can find insectivorous bats in certain seasons.

Go island hopping

The Great Keppel Island is just a hop, skip and a boat ride from the town of Yeppoon in central Queensland. One of the favourite outdoor adventures in Yeppoon is a trip to the islands, with the option of snorkelling right off the beach or watching wildlife while exploring the outback.

Take a day trip to the Great Keppel, a half-hour ferry ride from Yeppoon, about 22 kilometres from Yeppoon, and explore the island’s 17 natural beaches.

Only a 15-minute drive from Yeppoon Beach, Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary will bring out the animal lover in you. Experience a day with the wildlife at Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary… hold a snake or a parrot, hold a koala, pat and hand-feed kangaroos!

There are crocodiles, monkeys and so much more! What started as a botanical garden more than 100 years ago, the animals naturally converged in this location, which became Cooberrie Park.

Cooberrie Park is an open-plan park with the kangaroos having over 25 acres to explore! And who knows, you may come home with an adopted animal.
